Japan is spending and primping before big G8 event
Japan's northern town of Toyako is known for its beautiful green surroundings, blue lake and majestic mountains, but despite its natural beauty the area is still getting some touch ups ahead of the G8 summit meeting July 7-9.
National flags of participating states are flying along the main road connecting Sapporo and Rusutsu to welcome diplomats from the G8 and outreach nations, while local residents and shop-owners planted marigold flowers along the streets of Toyako and other towns. Read more...

Uncertainty continues over BlackBerry issue
Within days of Telecom Secretary Siddharth Behura giving a clean chit to Blackberry maker Research In Motion, his boss A. Raja has given a new twist to the controversy, saying that no final call has been made on the contentious issue.
"The Government is looking at a third-party solution to sort out security concerns over BlackBerry mobile services in India," Raja told reporters in New Delhi yesterday. "Research in Motion is offering some solutions, however we are looking at solutions being provided by other companies". Read more...

RIM's Rapid Growth Plan: A $49 BlackBerry Flip Phone?
Research In Motion (RIMM) executives have been, in our opinion, incorrectly underestimating how much impact Apple's (AAPL) new iPhone 3G will have on their business. Specifically, now that consumers account for the bulk of RIM's growth, we see the company's target market less interested in RIM's proprietary email system and just happy to buy the best smartphone on the market for around $199. That used to be a BlackBerry; now it'll be the iPhone. Read more...

Lightning Review: Linksys WRT610N Dual N-Band Wireless Router
The Gadget: Linksys' Dual-N Band Wireless Router just became official, giving users simultaneous 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands so 802.11N users and 802.11G users can coexist without N users having to use the crowded 2.4GHz space. Also, since it's dual N-band, two N users can connect (one to each frequency) without interfering with the other. It's styled in Linksys' new form factor, which helps emphasize that Linksys is more for consumers (especially compared to their parent company Cisco). Read more...

Motorola Napolean Q9: Verizon’s World Phone
Man, Motorola just can’t keep a lid on anything anymore can they? We’ve got a hold of a phone codenamed the “Napolean” and it’s a CDMA EV-DO Rev. A Q9 with full GSM world roaming capabilities. This even includes the U.S. 850MHz/1900MHz bands! Even though it’s Verizon branded and will launch on Verizon, we loaded in our AT&T SIM and away we went. We’ve found the following specs on the phone so far: fingerprint scanner (seriously, on the back), Windows Mobile 6.1, EV-DO Rev. A, quad-band EDGE, 2 megapixel camera with flash, stereo speakers, 320×240 resolution screen, Wi-Fi, and a 1500mAh battery. The keyboard isn’t as good as the first Q9 or Q9m, and the d-pad is incredibly stiff and difficult to use. Sound sounded good though, and the screen seems to be the same as the original Q9s. We’ll keep diggin’, but in the meantime, take a look at a gallery, ok? Read more...

Possible BlackBerry Curve 8350 for Nextel by years end?
Net whispers are floating around that Research In Motion just may have another BlackBerry mobile phone planned for Nextel’s iDEN network. The Nextel iDEN network is somewhat aging but still packs a punch in the business world where Research In Motion mostly makes its livelihood with the BlackBerrys.
The last rumour sailing about was that Research In Motion would be pushing out a WiFi compatible Nextel BlackBerry by the end of 08, and it’s looking more and more like that rumour is still on the tracks, although it is possible it may just get bumped over into early 09, but when Research In Motion does launch the new mobile phone it will be in the form of a Blackberry curve, model number 8350, and will run OS 4.6.1.
